About me
My name is Anders, I'm 38 years old, married and a father of two teenagers. We live in Oslo in a place called Trasop, right on the border of Østmarka, together with a dog and a cat. I work as a civilian employee in the Norwegian Armed Forces, and in my free time I like to exercise, go on trips, work in the garden, read and watch TV shows.
I grew up in Ringerike, and outdoor activities have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My parents took me on trips year-round, and as a child I spent countless holidays at the cabin. Scouting became an important part of my upbringing, and it was there that I got a taste for the slightly more challenging trips – like when we went on a “field jacket trip” and only brought with us the equipment that fit in our pockets.
Throughout my teenage years, I continued to travel with good friends, whether it was on cabin trips, fishing trips or camping trips with big bonfires. Many of the same friends are still with me today, although the pace may have slowed down a bit.
I enjoy winter trips the most, preferably with a sled, but I also love fishing trips with a packraft or lazy moments in front of a campfire. For me, outdoor life is about well-being, and I am a big fan of making trips as comfortable as possible. Although I like challenges, it is not about struggling through them, but finding solutions that make the situation the best possible. Taking care of your body and equipment is the most important thing you can do to have a great trip.
In 2023, I took the step up from weekend and week trips to my first major expedition: a 20-day trip through the Northwest Passage, from Cambridge Bay to Gjoa Haven. It was a fantastic experience that gave me a taste for the expedition life.
